About GodModeLooks

Looksmaxxing, without the lore

GodModeLooks is a face analysis and a plan for improving how you look, built on what the research actually supports. We started from a simple frustration: the advice is everywhere, most of it is forum lore, and almost none of it tells you how strong the evidence behind it is.

So we read the studies, graded them, and built the plan on the ones that hold up — and we publish the grades, so you can see exactly how much weight each claim can bear.

01What we believe

Four principles

  1. 01

    Evidence first

Bold where the research is strong, quiet where it is not. A strong finding stated timidly wastes it; a weak one stated boldly misleads you.

  2. 02

    Honest about the hype

When a trend does not hold up — the golden ratio, mewing for adult bone, collagen pills — we say so, and point you to what the evidence supports instead.

  3. 03

    Presentation is half of it

Photos of the same person can vary more in rated attractiveness than different people do. Skin, grooming, body and how you carry yourself are changeable.

  4. 04

    Habits before procedures

We never push surgery or prescriptions. Where a doctor is the right person to see, we tell you.

02Editorial standards

How we write about science

Every page in the science library follows the same six rules.

  1. 01

    Every claim has a source

Peer-reviewed studies, systematic reviews, clinical guidelines and regulators’ pages, linked in a numbered reference list at the end of every article. Where we could not confirm a detail of a citation, we leave it out rather than guess.

  2. 02

A study found — never science proves

We describe what a study measured, in whom and how large it was. One small study is reported as one small study.

  3. 03

    We flag who paid

A lot of skin and sleep research is run or funded by companies that sell products. When a finding comes from one, we tell you.

  4. 04

    Research is not a promise

We write about what studies found in the people they studied. That is not a claim about what our plan will do for you, and we keep the two apart on every page.

  5. 05

Prescription drugs are explained, never sold

We explain what the trials found for medicines like finasteride, always with their side effects, and send you to a doctor. We never dose, recommend or sell them.

  6. 06

    No diagnosis

Nothing we publish, and nothing in the quiz or scan, diagnoses a condition. When a topic touches health — sleep apnea, hair loss, acne — the page says when to see a professional.

03Evidence grades

How we grade evidence

Every article states the grade of the claim it is about, and key claims inside it carry their own. These are the four grades, and what it takes to earn each.

Strong evidence
A meta-analysis of randomized trials, a large randomized trial, a clinical guideline, or a very large and consistent body of observational research. We state these plainly.
Moderate evidence
Consistent observational reviews, good single randomized trials, or lab findings that other teams have replicated. Real, and worth acting on, with limits we name.
Emerging evidence
Small, early, uncontrolled, single-lab or animal studies. Interesting and plausible, not settled. We say so every time.
Weak or contested
Thin, conflicting or refuted evidence, or none at all. When a popular claim lands here, we tell you, and we tell you what to do instead.
